Blue Shirt

1.   Why does the protagonist continually go down to the basement?

2.   What does the basement represent in the film?

3.   Why does the protagonist (the psychiatrist) have trouble opening the basement

door?

4.   Why don’t we see his keys to the basement?

5.   Why does he always wear the same color shirt?

We will look at a different genre from film to film. The first is horror.

Bullying is a consistent theme in this movie.

Foreshadowing: we get hints about the conclusion of the story or movie

You need twists (twist of fate): a surprise ending / conclusion to a story / movie

1.   Guilt is a theme. The psychiatrist feels guilty that he couldn’t help the guy that

committed suicide. I think this is connected to the basement.

This is a religious movie too. The reason I say that is the boy goes to church to

feel safe and for comfort. I think the basement is hell. He feels guilty.

Opening credits tell the actors, director, producer, writer, etc. But they set the tone for

the movie too. Usually has music. Tarantino is known for great opening credits.

This movie is not in chronological order. First, then, after, finally…
